I.The diagnosis problem

Every offseason, players work on their game. Then the season starts and nothing changes. Basketball Biomechanics builds its whole practice around the reason why: most players never identify what is actually limiting them, so they spend months working on the wrong thing. The assessment comes first. The plan comes out of the assessment.

“Most players never identify what’s actually limiting them. So they spend months working on the wrong thing.”

II.Calibration as confidence

The throughline in their work is psychological as much as physical. Players trust the biggest moments when they have already beaten harder conditions in training, when they know where to put their attention under pressure, and when a miss has a script. In their words, calibration equals trust and belief. The film work, like coach Tommy Tempesta breaking down options out of the pivot, shows the level of detail underneath that sentence.

“Calibration = trust and belief.”
